What Does a Customized Facial Actually Mean?

“Customized facial” is a phrase you see everywhere, but what does it actually mean?

To me, customization means your facial is not built around checking the same boxes at every appointment. Your skin can change with the weather, stress, hormones, travel, your home routine and simply with time. Your treatment should be able to change too.

It starts before the treatment does

I want to know what your skin has been doing, what you are currently using at home, what feels different and what you would like to work toward. For a new client, that conversation is especially important because it gives me context before I start selecting products or modalities.

More modalities do not automatically make a better facial

Healthy Skin Spa offers modalities including dermaplaning, LED light, microcurrent, galvanic current, facial lymphatic drainage, gua sha, facial cupping and high frequency. That does not mean every modality belongs in every appointment.

The point of having options is being able to choose intentionally. Your skin may benefit from one combination at one visit and something completely different the next time.

Sensitive skin deserves customization too

If your skin is reactive, dry or showing signs that its barrier needs support, customization can also mean doing less. A facial does not have to feel aggressive to be worthwhile.

Sometimes the most thoughtful treatment is the one that respects what your skin can comfortably tolerate.

Your home routine is part of the conversation

A professional facial is only one piece of long term skin care. I also want you to understand what you are using at home and why. You should not leave feeling like you need ten new products. You should leave with a clearer understanding of your skin.

If you are new to Healthy Skin Spa and are not sure which treatment to choose, the New Client Facial is the best place to begin. You can also explore my approach to facials and skincare in Canton, Ohio before your first visit.
